Please join us for an important community conversation about the impacts of immigration enforcement on families in Anne Arundel County.

This session will begin with a brief introduction to immigration issues to ground the discussion, followed by an overview of what is happening now — both locally and nationally. Together, we will:

Speakers

Kiria Abreu, Annapolis Immigration Justice Network

Kiria Abreu serves as a Board Member of Annapolis Immigration Justice Network (AIJN) with a decade of experience advocating for vulnerable communities. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland in 2021 and currently works at a national nonprofit organization representing children in immigration matters. Many of her clients are unaccompanied minors or survivors of trafficking, and she is dedicated to providing compassionate, thorough support throughout their cases.

Laura Jane Willoughby, Anne Arundel Rapid Response Network

Laura Jane Willoughby helped found the Anne Arundel Rapid Response Network (AARRN), a coalition of individuals, communities, and organizations working to respond to and confirm ICE sightings while connecting impacted community members to trusted resources. She is a nonfiction writer with a portfolio spanning a 20-year career in journalism and spent a decade leading nonprofit organizations in the national security field. She has lived or worked in Anne Arundel County since 1998.

Jessa Coulter, Annapolis Immigration Justice Network

Jessa Coulter is the Executive Director of Annapolis Immigration Justice Network (AIJN) in Maryland, where she leads efforts to connect immigrants in Anne Arundel County with access to legal counsel. AIJN has assisted more than 1,200 neighbors and provided financial assistance for legal fees to over 500 immigrants.
