Please join us for a timely exploration of facts, trends and realities about immigration. During the session, we will look at the overall immigration statistics and trends for the U.S., Maryland and Anne Arundel County. Who are our area’s immigrants? Where do they come from? What do we know about their lives, beliefs and hopes for the future? Does every immigrant hope for “successful integration” into U.S. culture and the workforce? What specific challenges are faced by our county’s immigrant population and, in particular, their children? Finally, what programs – existing or proposed – address the issues facing immigrant populations?
GUEST SPEAKERS: Randy Capps, Demographer and Sr. Policy Analyst, Migration Policy Institute; Dan Masterson, PhD, USNA History Professor; and Ellen Olsen, ELL [English Language Learner] Family and Community Outreach Specialist for Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
MODERATOR: Lynne Davidson
